Augmented Reality Art – Gallery Eden

Gallery Eden in the Dubai Mall wanted to enhance the visitor experience by bringing its exhibits to life with Augmented Reality (AR). At the gallery's opening event, artists showcased their artworks, and we took a selection of these pieces and brought them to life in AR.

The solution

ECHT created detailed 3D models of five artworks, added animation, and developed a Web AR application that runs directly in the phone's browser. Visitors scan the QR code on the large artwork wall, point their camera, and watch the artworks step out of the frame, like a vividly patterned ostrich walking around in front of them.

No app, no barrier

Because the experience runs in the browser, visitors can start within seconds, with nothing to download or install. That made it accessible to the Dubai Mall's huge, international audience, including passers-by who would never download a gallery app.

Made to be shared

A built-in capture button lets visitors take photos and videos of the animated artworks and share them on social media, carrying the gallery's art to people who haven't visited yet.

The result

Visitors at the opening could try the animated artworks within seconds, with nothing to install, and take them home as photos and videos.
