Abu Dhabi Grand Prix Car Designer in AR

The Abu Dhabi Grand Prix closes the Formula 1 season at Yas Marina Circuit on Yas Island. Around the 2023 race weekend, fans could create their own Formula 1 car directly from their phone.

ECHT ME developed the car designer as a web app, with no installation required, together with the service that turned each finished design into a 3D model. The experience followed the visual identity of the race weekend and its partners.

Fans could customise their car across four stages, choosing the base colour, gradient, pattern and branded stickers. The car rotated through different angles as each choice was made, with the 3D model updating instantly.

Once complete, the finished car could be viewed in augmented reality, placing the personalised car on the ground through the phone’s camera and allowing fans to walk around and explore their creation.
