Gesture Technology Installation at Dubai Police HQ

Dubai Police wanted a permanent installation to attract, engage and inform visitors at the main entrance of the Dubai Police Headquarters.

The solution

ECHT designed and developed a gesture-controlled installation using the latest gesture-tracking technology available on the market. Visitors stand at a slim pedestal in front of a large curved screen and, with simple hand gestures above a Leap Motion sensor, control and navigate through the application without touching anything.

The floor in front of the screen shows a large map of Dubai, and a circular menu leads visitors through the history of Dubai Police, its departments and its processes. The complete application is available in English and Arabic.

Why gesture control

• Futuristic: a touch-free interface suits a high-profile entrance hall
• Hygienic: nothing to touch, even with many visitors every day
• Engaging: everyone nearby can follow the content on the large screen while one person is in control

The result

A permanent, eye-catching welcome that presents Dubai Police as a modern, innovation-driven organisation, and a more engaging way for visitors to learn about its history and work than printed information or a static display.
