GITEX Technology Week in Dubai is one of the largest technology events in the world. For its 39th edition, Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) wanted an interactive stand element to demonstrate its latest smart services and technologies.
The solution
ECHT developed an interactive table that combines RFID technology with 3D-printed objects. Each object represents one of RTA's services, such as taxis, the metro and smart gates. When a visitor places an object on the hotspot, the RFID reader recognises it instantly and the matching content appears on the large screen above the table.
Why RFID and physical objects
- Intuitive: pick up an object, put it down, and the content appears, with no menus and no instructions needed
- Tangible: the 3D-printed models turn RTA's services into something visitors can hold, not just read about
- Social: the large screen lets a whole group follow along while one person explores
- Robust: RFID is reliable and keeps working through a full, busy exhibition week
The result
The table became a natural gathering point on RTA's stand, where visitors, VIPs and staff explored the authority's smart services hands-on. The same concept is now available as our Interactive RFID Table.
