Nissan wanted to raise customer awareness of its after-sales programme at the Dubai International Motor Show. The key message: using Nissan Genuine Parts instead of counterfeit parts makes your car last longer. It's a topic most visitors don't think about at a car show, so ECHT turned it into a game using the latest gesture and tracking technology.
The After-sales Virtual Market Experience
In a dark, branded booth on the Nissan stand, visitors stood in front of a large screen connected to a Leap Motion device mounted on a pod. The game started with a simple swipe of the hand, and from then on everything was controlled with natural gestures: grab, drop and tap.
In the Virtual Spare Parts Market, Nissan Genuine Parts appeared on one side and counterfeit parts on the other. Players had to choose the right spare parts and drag them onto a Nissan car to repair it. The goal was to score the most points by choosing the genuine parts.
Why gesture technology
Without controllers or touchscreens, the experience felt futuristic and matched the motor show's focus on innovation. It also attracted a crowd, as onlookers could easily follow each player's moves on the large screen.
The result
Instead of reading a brochure, visitors learned by playing: they experienced the difference between genuine and counterfeit parts first-hand and left with Nissan's after-sales message, that genuine parts keep your car on the road for longer.
